SHELTERS AND RESCUE GROUPS
The following are smaller shelters that accept strays and unwanted animals only as space is available. They are cared for until good homes can be found for them.
Citizens For Humane Action
Accepts a limited number of cats and dogs.

This is a non-profit humane organization that recently dedicated a new shelter
building at 3765 Corporate Drive in Westerville. CHA accept all types of animals on a space available basis, and cares for them until they are adopted.
Accepts a limited number of cats, but Cat Welfare tries its best to take in as many as possible, a.s.a.p. There may be a short waiting period.

A non-profit "no-frills" organization dedicated to helping cats. Approximately 250 cats are cared for daily, with the population sometimes soaring to over 300 in the summer months. Long term care is provided for each one until they are adopted.

"Pets Without Parents is a refuge for many homeless and unwanted pets. Our
shelter houses many cats, kittens, dogs and puppies who are anxiously awaiting a
new, permanent home. If you are looking to add a new member to your
family, we certainly hope you will visit us. Adoptions include
spay/neuter, vaccinations while at shelter, dewormer, general vet exam, county
license for dogs, rabies shots for pets 3+ months, feline leukemia test for cats
and kittens, heartworm test for dogs 6+ months, health guarantee policy.
Pets Without Parents is a non-profit organization. Our shelter relies heavily on
the generosity of the community,. So if you have a dime to spare, an hour to
spend with the pets, or supplies to donate, you can be assured they will be put
to good use. We are located at the East end of Oakland Park Avenue.
In addition to the above shelters, there are a number of rescue groups that sometimes
accept animals and seek good homes for them. Usually these groups house the animals in foster homes until they are adopted.
Debi Hunter of the Northwest Side gives advice and sometimes assistance to people who have lost a bird. Since she started her bird-rescue service in 1985, she has returned more than sixty birds to their

Columbus Dog Connection is a growing network of dog enthusiasts who rescue dogs and puppies in need. Their dogs and puppies are rescued from abandonment and abuse/neglect cases, animal shelters, and a variety of other situations. They provide veterinary care and a foster home until a permanent home is found. Their goal is to place dogs/puppies with people who are ready for a life time commitment to our loyal and devoted friends.

This is an all volunteer, no kill group dedicated to helping rescue lost, abandoned &/or stray animals in Fairfield, Athens and Southeastern Franklin counties. They provide food, shelter and veterinary care to cats and dogs in need. Many of their cats can be seen in the Luv-A-Pet room at PetSmart in Reynoldsburg and they have dog adoptions at the same store on the first Saturday of each month.
FRIENDS FOR LIFE ANIMAL HAVEN
Located in Canal Winchester, Friends For Life Animal Haven takes in homeless dogs and cats. They are cared for in foster homes until a good permanent home can be found for them. Animals available for adoption can be seen the second Saturday of each month at Easton Petsmart, and the third Saturday at Brice Road Petsmart.
