LINKS TO LOST AND FOUND WEB SITES
There are numerous other lost and found web sites. Here are a few
links to some of the more useful ones. We have deliberately excluded any
sites that require visitors to pay a fee. Beware of lost
and found services that charge a fee.
CRAIG'S LIST
Expect to be spammed mercilessly for anything you post on Craig's list
and watch out for scammers, like people asking for a reward or a fee to return
your pet. But it's free and many people have had success with these free
classifieds.
PETFINDER
This is a national site with a classified section for lost and found
reports. Unfortunately, it is not possible to post photos on this site. There are also extensive listings for pets available for
adoption and a comprehensive listing of shelters, humane societies and rescues
for the whole of the US.
THE CENTER
FOR LOST PETS
This site was recently launched by the Humane Society of the United
States. It requires users to register and then they will send emails of possible
matches once you submit your report. Limited to dogs and cats. While it is
certainly very convenient for the site to notify you of possible matches, we
feel that there is too much potential for a match to be overlooked because of
limited choice of criteria and because people often describe things differently.
Still worth posting.
