CATS
The best thing you can do for your cat is keep it inside. There are innumerable hazards for cats left to roam: cars, dogs, suburban coyotes (Yes! Even in Ohio), other cats with diseases, delicious puddles of toxic anti-freeze, poisonous plants, cat snatchers, etc. All of these risks are very real, and, sadly, we hear about them every day. But even inside cats have a knack for getting out and getting lost. Beginning January 1, 2000, cats in Franklin County are required to wear rabies tags. Microchipping is a good alternative for people who are wary of putting a collar on a cat. (You must be careful to use an elasticized collar they can slip out of, if snagged.)
